JEWELRY CARE
Taking care of your Lana Via pieces
Demi-fine
Sterling silver: Sterling silver can tarnish quickly if it is not stored properly. Best to store in a plastic pouch - one like the Lana Via plastic pouch it comes with. Though, when Silver is worn often it will not tarnish as much because of our natural oils from our skin. You can use any silver polishing cloths as the cloth has abrasive compounds to polish off the oxidation on the surface of your piece.
Vermeil: Our Vermeil pieces are 14k gold plated over sterling silver. It is best to take off all Vermeil pieces before you shower or go into the water. Please do on use any silver polishing cloths as the cloth has abrasive compounds to polish silver - so if you use it on Vermeil pieces you will rub off the gold.
Brass
14k Gold Plated or Rhodium Plated: Our brass pieces are plated 14k gold or rhodium. Do not expose to water as it will tarnish the piece. It us best to remove any brass jewelry before showering or swimming. Best stored in Lana Via plastic pouch it came with to preserve your piece.
Artisan Brass Collection
All handmade artisan pieces are high polished brass but will darken over time. We personally love the darker tones as it shows character and that it was loved! However, you can - (1) take it to a jeweler to have to polished, (2) soak it with warm water and dish wash soap and clean with a very soft brush or cloth, (3) use any silver polishing cloths as the cloth has abrasive compounds to polish off the oxidation on the surface of your piece. Best practice is to store in a plastic pouch.
Fine Jewelry
Fine 14k Gold: Gold doesn’t tarnish very much but if exposed to water+dirt or lotions it can become dull. Clean with mild dish soap using a soft brush or cloth. Make sure to dry with soft cloth when done. Avoid using anything abrasive as it will scratch the surface.
*In general, the best practice is to keep ALL jewelry away from water.
*Please note that we are not responsible for the improper care of your jewelry. Repairs are case by case.
